my late night shopping finds

We got home from Going Bonkers just a couple of hours before Aaron got off of work and as soon as he got home he changed and we headed out to church.

After church we took the girl's out to eat at Rodarte & Vivero's Blue Moon Cafe (our fav Mexican restaurant) and the girl's were so good! They are always good when we go to a restaurant, but we don't go out that often, so I don't get to appreciate their good behavior that much. You caught that right? lol

Well Aaron was exhausted (he worked all day yesterday, got off a midnight, drove to Winstar with a friend, got home at 7:30 am, slept for 1 hour and then went to work at 9 and got off after 4). So I dropped him and the girl's off at home and headed up to Best Buy to help my mom buy a computer.

Then we went to Walmart to get Sara a new car seat. Graco is my favorite brand but the one I got was on sale for $30 instead of $40 and the Graco was $50. So here is her new car seat.

I also picked up a couple of recorders for them to use in school. I totally didn't think about it until I got home but I should have gotten one for Luke too. So I have a mental reminder to do that the next time I go to Walmart.
We strolled around checking out the Easter stuff. I saw this and had to buy it to make sure I had it. If anyone knows my son, they will understand the need to buy this! lol Anthony hasn't seen it yet, but he is gonna flip out when he does.
Ok, so here comes the best part!!!!!! We saw these Littlest Pet Shop Valentine tubes of pets. They had 2 different 3 packs. One has a bird, butterfly and chihuahua. The other has a bunny, monkey and a gecko.

They were on a shelf that said $4.97, but they were for Valentine's Day and all of the Valentine's Day stuff is 50% off. So they rang up $4.97. Told the cashier they should be half off and her manager was right there and he said, yep it's not ringing up right, she gets it for free. What?!

Ok-don't get too excited. I didn't get it free because it rang up wrong, that is only half right. Basically, it's Walmart's policy that if it is supposed to be clearanced and it rings up wrong, if the corrected price is under $3, you get it free.

Oh yeah, so I went and got 2 more. Then the cashier recommended that I pick up more if they have them. Well, how many? As many as you want. Okay, I won't argue. I left with a total of 18 tubes. 18!!! And there were still some left, believe or not (I felt so guilty getting so many). So if you know us and your kid's birthday is coming up, you now know what they are getting! lol

Going Bonkers

So this morning Ashley came to get Luke and she needed something to do to kill some time and I recommended Going Bonkers to her. She was all set to go and then I decided that we would join her. Went and picked up Anthony from my mom's and off we went.

I don't think that I will go back there on a weekend again. It was crazy! I am so glad that they stamp your wrists like Chuck E Cheese does because there is no way you would be able to keep up with where your kid was at all times. That place is insane in a good way.

Definitely going to try and set up a homeschool play date there. The kids would love it. Three hours and $25 later, my kids were all totally worn out. Admission is $5 a kid and $1 for 18 and up. We ordered 3 personal sized pizzas and we all got 2 slices, so that was cool.

The one bad part was that some kid accidentally knocked Anthony's glasses off and they got all bent and the lens popped out and he could only find one. So I have to call tomorrow to see if they found it when they were cleaning the place.

Yeah I couldn't help quoting the movie Austin Powers. Me and Aaron did not exchange gifts for Valentine's Day. He had gone looking for me some Longhorn pj bottoms but couldn't find any.

Instead, he took me shopping today and this is what I picked....a pair of Lucky Charms pj bottoms. I still didn't get him anything though. And he still has to take me out for Thai food.
And I couldn't resist this....in the clearance section....normally $50 got it for $25. These toys are incredible learning toys for kids. They had some other regular Magnetix on sale too so I think we will go back and get more.

What I thought was funny was that we had gone to Whole Foods in Plano to pick up the lotion for the girl's that I had special ordered. Since Aaron had to get going to work and the only Walmart on the way back was at Frankford and Marsh. As we were pulling into our parking space guess who I see loading their car....Rachel. What a strange coincedence. We almost went down a different lane to park and I probably wouldn't have seen her. yep yep

Park Days

We've (either Ashley or Aaron and me) have been taking the kids up to Central Park. We usually stay for about an hour at a time. The kids like it a lot and we get a chance to chill.

Picnic Days

I came across this cute panda picnic basket at Walmart in Colleyville a couple of weeks ago. I had to buy it for the girls, it is so adorable. It came with a large napkin that matches the sides, 2 small plates, 1 large plate, 2 cups, 2 sets of forks, spoons and knives. They all have pandas on them. I thought it was a steal for $14.99. They can't wait to take it to the park.

Shreveport

So Aaron and I went to Shreveport yestersday to gamble. We stayed at the Diamond Jack's Casino and we had a pretty good time. We lost it all, but we had fun. I managed to sit down at Roulette with $20 and play for 3 hours. Not too shabby. They had this teddy bear giveaway and you had to have so many points on your card to get one. We a dark brown one for Emma and a light brown one for Sara.

Boy that 3 hour drive home was rough though! We were both just trying to stay awake! Happy Fat Tuesday....and Happy Birthay Steve!

3 year anniversary

I knew that I would forget. Friday made it 3 years since I quit smoking. Yay me. And no, I still haven't had a soda....5 months now....I rock.

Fifth Disease

So Sara broke out into this rash Friday night. I took pictures and posted them on a message board, asking anyone if they knew what it could be. A couple of people thought maybe an allergic reaction, and I thought so too at first so I bought some Benadryl and gave it to her.

The majority of people said that it looked just like Fifth Disease. I had never heard of it! So this is what it is...


Especially common in kids between the ages of 5 and 15, fifth disease typically produces a distinctive red rash on the face that makes the child appear to have a "slapped cheek." The rash then spreads to the trunk, arms, and legs. Fifth disease is actually just a viral illness that most kids recover from quickly and without complications.

So Saturday morning when she got up the rash had spread from her left cheek to the rest of her face and shoulders. I called our family doctor and he agreed that it sounded like Fifth Disease. And there is nothing you can do but let it run it's course.

And that can take a couple of weeks! The redness is pretty much gone although you can still see the bumps. At least it is nothing serious! And of course she is just full force as if nothing is wrong. Such a trooper!

New Hobby

Okay...I can't seem to sit still lately and so I decided to pick up another new hobby. Yep, knitting. I actually learned how to knit in the 5th grade when my teacher, Mrs. Bollinger, taught me how. That year I also learned how to crochet although I am horrible at it. I can also cross stitch and am so-so. But knitting I can do.

I decided to go with bamboo (did you know that bamboo isn't wood, it's a grass?). The whole wood thing comes from the new style of homeschooling we are going to try....but that will be explained on the homeschool blog so you will have to go there to find out about it.

Anyways, I went to Walmart and found this yarn. It's really pretty, brown and turquoise. I am making a scarf. Okay, the only thing I know how to make is a scarf. lol I want to learn how to make a hat and a blanket. I will sign up for lessons for that though....someday. It's gonna be a big fluffy scarf.

Well.....since my scarf is gonna take awhile, I decided to get a 2nd set of needles (a little smaller than the needles for mine) and this so soft blue yarn for Emma. This stuff is crazy soft and blue is her favorite color. I just started on hers....it should only take a couple of weeks to complete.

Tonight my mom and I went to Big Lots and I found these balls of yarn for only $1 each! It isn't quite the same as Emma's. It isn't as fluffy. But it is really pretty. The green is my favorite, reminds me of a mermaid (it has a little blue through it).

Also found this at Big Lots on clearance for $5. It is perfect for our new homeschool style (Waldorf). They put a big emphasis on wood toys over plastic. And this had 100 pieces! I also bought a storage container with a lid that has to clamps on it to keep them in.

What a hit with the girls. They love to use their imagination. Earlier tonight we all painted with real watercolors (not Crayola...lol). I love art. So do the girls. I'm so happy.
