St. Patrick's Day 2010

Happy St. Patrick's Day 2010!

I've been pretty late getting pictures up since spring break ended but I've been sick and just lounging around since Sunday. I didn't want to fall too far behind on blogging, so here are pictures of St. Patrick's Day.

Since it was spring break I took the kids down to the Fort Worth Stockyards to enjoy the activities they had going on. We were actually supposed to go to Dallas Heritage Village that day but I went the wrong way on Hwy 820 and ended up in Fort Worth. Oops. I am directionally challenged.

Here is Emma ready to leave the house. That is before she saw that my St. Patty's shirt made you look like a leprechaun and made me switch with her. And then she forgot her headband at home. lol

I took out my big green bow and the girls played around with it.

Sara snagged my "Everyone loves an Irish girl" sash.

Silly.

Here we are at the Stockyards Station, which is just a big shopping area. There is a restaurant there called Riscky's and it is the best BBQ! We ate there back in June when my uncle and grandma flew into town.

The had a Cow Herd Camp going on, which was really just cowboys telling you what life was like back in the 1800's.

They also had a free petting zoo for the kids. This was the best petting zoo I have ever been to. The animals were so sweet and let you pick them up. They had goats, rams, bunnies, baby pigs, mini horses, ducks, geese and chickens. I think that was all of the animals, there were a lot!

Anthony was rather fond of this goat. He didn't want to put him down.

Then I took the kids to the huge wooden maze. This picture doesn't even get all of it in it. I was on the parent's observation deck and the maze goes more to the right, left and under the deck.

Admission was $5 each and worth every penny! At the beginning they time stamp a card that has the word MAZE on it. Those 4 letters are hidden throughout the maze with a hole punch so you can punch out your letter as you find it. Then you try to race out to get the best time.

Sara and Emma both got 17 minutes. But that was mainly because they couldn't find the exit and ended up leaving through the entrance and they wouldn't let them back in. They didn't even know the difference.

Anthony ended up with 24 minutes but he exited the right way. Next time we go back I want to race Aaron and see who wins! lol

When we came home I made the kids rainbow cupcakes.

They turned out perfect! A new St. Patty's tradition!

As soon as they were done the girls friends showed up and helped them eat the cupcakes.

So that was our St. Patrick's Day this year!! What did everyone else do to celebrate?

American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum

On Tuesday I took the kids to the American Airlines C.R. Smith Airline Museum in Arlington. I didn't know what to expect and we ended up having a great time!

The first thing we did was watch a 15 minute video about the history of American Airlines. Sounds like it would be boring, but it wasn't at all. It was played in a small theater on a huge screen and you sit in real airplane seats.

After the movie, we walked through the museum, which is small but full of really cool stuff.

This is what the first seats on the airplanes looked like back in 1934. Not very comfy looking!

They had lots of hand-on exhibits for the kids. This is a mock cockpit.

I love this picture!! Emma is such a beautiful girl!

You get to go inside and explore this plane! It was tiny inside, I would be so uncomfortable flying in this!

Cocktails anyone? lol

Here is the end of an engine. It is huge! The video tells you that they put a new engine in every plane after 8000 hours of flying.

There were exhibits to teach about lift, air pressure and how a propeller works.

So that was our Tuesday. After the museum Anthony had a doctor's visit and after that we headed home and the girls went to play with their friends.

I would definitely go back to the museum and if you live in DFW, I recommend it!

Spring Break random

The girls have really enjoyed spring break. They stay outside all day long!!

On Monday I wasn't feeling very well (I caught a cold over the weekend) so we stayed home and the girls played with sidewalk chalk outside in the driveway.

Here are their creations.

I found these at Walmart for $1 and they come with 10 in a box. The sour ones were a big hit!

It was so pretty out they ate their lunches outside.

The girls have been outside all day today and when they finally decided to come in, Sara brought me this little plant and asked me if it was a banana seed.

Hahaha how cute is that?

It does look like tiny bananas, but no, it's not a banana seed.

I have a new favorite lotion that I thought I would share with you. It's from Walmart and it's really lightweight, not thick or greasy. And it smells so good!

I picked this up for the girls. They love bubble baths and even thought it's body wash, we use it as bubble bath.

Alice in Wonderland party

We had two birthday parties to go to during the time I couldn't find my camera so I had to use my camera phone to take pictures.

I don't have many pictures, but here are the ones I took....

The girls were invited to an Alice in Wonderland themed birthday party for their friend Hannah. Here is Hannah's cake.

Here is the room decorated. They had the party at the golf club that Hannah's mom, Jennifer, works at. It looked so cute!!

The girls dressed nice and wore pearls. Sara borrowed my hot pink pearls and I bought Emma a set of white pearls.

Did you notice that we cut 8 inches off of Sara's hair? It looks so cute!

Emma stole my sunglasses that day, but I didn't mind because of how stinkin' cute she looked in them!

We also had several inches cut off of Emma's hair and it looks so pretty!

After the tea party we headed over to the mall and watched Alice in Wonderland. I actually had no desire to see the movie but I liked it a lot. Aaron and I rate movies by whether or not we would want to own it when it comes out on dvd. Yep, I want to own it!

After that party, we headed over to Nickelmania for another birthday party. This one was for my best friend's son Jacob.

Here is the birthday boy Jacob! The kids had so much fun playing all of the games and then picking out prizes. I love Nickelmania!

Here is a picture of Sara on Kindergarten Western Day at her school. I had completely forgotten about it and she reminded me at 7 pm the night before!!

I ran out to Michael's craft store and found her a hat and an iron-on rhinestone horseshoes. I also picked up the bandana. I glued pink marabou to her hat and added a tiara. She is a very pink cowgirl!! lol

St. Patty's Day Flip Flops

St. Patrick's Day is coming up and I am really excited!

Having a maiden name like O'Brien, how could I not be?!

I made me and Sara a pair of bow flip flops to wear that day. I bought Emma green flip flops as well but she declined having any sort of bows on them.

Dino necklace

I finally found my camera! It was behind my computer desk where I had already looked but didn't see it at the time.

Anyways, this picture was on the memory card. I bought Sara a dinosaur necklace on etsy and it came all the way from England. She loves it. She loves anything to do with dinosaurs!

It's the Kraken!!

Last week Aaron and I went to the liquor store and picked up some coconut rum to make some Bay Breezes (coconut rum, cranberry juice and pineapple juice) and we came across this rum....The Kraken Rum.

Of course when we hear "kraken" we think of good old Harry Hamlin running around trying to kill the kraken and save Andromeda in the 1981 classic Clash of the Titans.

So imagine how excited I was to see a commercial for the re-make of Clash of the Titans with Sam Worthington playing Perseus!! Woohoo! I'm sure most people associate Sam with Avatar, but I haven't seen it yet. I think of Terminator Salvation.

Aaron is just as excited as I am and we plan on seeing it on opening day...and that's only a few weeks away!!

The girls are going to an Alice in Wonderland themed birthday tea party this weekend for their friend Hannah and as part of the party, they get to see the new Alice in Wonderland movie. They are really excited. Aaron and I are going along with them so we can see it to.

I would ask my mom to join us, but she is terrified of Alice in Wonderland for some reason. hahaha

Then after that birthday party is a birthday party for my best friend's son Jacob. He will be 7. We are going to have one busy Saturday!

Did I mention that I managed to lose my camera this week? It's somewhere in my house. I tend to put things in really odd places so who knows where I set it down! I haven't really looked for it, but I will not be happy if I don't have a camera this weekend!

Shoe Love

I totally have a thing for shoes this year. And not just any shoes...high heels. I must have them!!

Here is my newest pair that I bought. I've been eyeing them for weeks and last week I went to check on them and they only had one pair left in my size. And if you are a girl, you know that means you have to buy them. You just do. So I did. And I love them. Plus they were only $20 at Target.

I wear them around my house every day waiting for an opportunity to wear them out somewhere because they are quite frankly the perfect pair of heels. Cute, tall, comfy. Love them.
