I am so sick errrrr

I have been sick for the last week and a half and I finally went to the doctor and found out that I have a sinus infection and strep throat. I am not a happy camper right now. I was given the choice between 10 days of antibiotics or a shot and I chose the shot. And it is sore and it hurts. And I'm whiny. errrrr

So please keep me in your prayers for a speedy recovery, my house is begging to be cleaned and that's not gonna happen until I'm better. Thanks lol

Super Healthy Kids

There is a blog that I am a huge fan of called Super Healthy Kids. The owner of the blog, Amy, has a goal of teaching her kids, and yours, super healthy eating habits. I am totally amazed at the fruits and vegetables her kids will eat. And she never hides or disguises what they are eating. She's my Veggie Mama Hero.

And she has created a super cool Healthy Habits Plate to help kids identify how much kids should be eating from the food groups. I bought both girl's their own plate and as soon as we got them in the mail the first thing they made me do was label them with their names. Then they had to try them out.

Since the veggie portion of the plate is the largest, they started going through the fridge and cabinets looking for fruits or veggies that can fill the space. Awesome!

And the best part of it is that the plates are only $4.99 each and she has a really low shipping price ($1.00 I think).

So you can go to Walmart and buy your kid a character plate like Dora or Tinkerbell for the same price OR you can buy a Healthy Habits Plate from Amy and teach your kid's nutrition habits that they will carry on with them for the rest of their lives. That is a no-brainer to me!! lol

Make sure you check out Amy's blog for cool recipes, I always do!

By now y'all know that I love to share products and websites that I love and I have been wanting to write this post for awhile. And you know if I love it, you will too! So go check it out!

Product Review

I have been searching to find the right hair stuff for the girl's. They have tangle issues and shine issues. And I am going through a phase where I want everything all natural and organic if possible. So I decided to suck it up and spend the cash to buy some California Baby products.

Man, the are not cheap. I bought shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath and lotion. The bubble bath was $13 and the rest were $10 each. But after using them for a week I have to say that they are worth every penny! I bought the Calming scent which smells like lavender, a smell I love!

I don't even have to apply a 2nd leave-in conditioner to get the girls tangles out, they brush right out. Sara has the shine back in her hair and it is so darn soft! And the best part is that a little goes a long way, so it will take a little time before I have to shell out some more cash for this stuff.

So if you have been looking for something all natural with no harsh chemicals that gets rid of tangles and leaves hair soft and shiny, this is it! (I think I should get free products for this review hehehe).

Chinese New Year

Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year and 2009 is the year of the Ox. Unfortunately I have been sick all week (still am sick and can't wait to go to the doctor tomorrow) so I wasn't able to get the kid's the surprises ready for them in time for today.

We will celebrate on Saturday. I have super cute take-out boxes for each of them and I am going to put treats and surprises inside. And since I cannot cook Chinese food at all, we are taking the kid's out to eat at a Chinese restaurant. On the 16th we are taking them to see the Lion Dances performed so that should be exciting.

What is everyone else doing to celebrate?

I copied this from Wikipedia and it describes the legend of Chinese New Year

According to tales and legends, the beginning of Chinese New Year started with the fight against a mythical beast called the Nian or "Year" in Chinese. Nian would come on the first day of New Year to devour livestock, crops, and even villagers, especially children.

To protect themselves, the villagers would put food in front of their doors at the beginning of every year. It was believed that after the Nian ate the food they prepared, it wouldn’t attack any more people.

One time, people saw that the Nian was scared away by a little child wearing red. The villagers then understood that the Nian was afraid of the color red. Hence, every time when the New Year was about to come, the villagers would hang red lanterns and red spring scrolls on windows and doors.

People also used firecrackers to frighten away the Nian. From then on, the Nian never came to the village again. The Nian was eventually captured by Hongjun Laozu, an ancient Taoist monk. The Nian became Hongjun Laozu's mount.

My Valentine's Day

Aaron and I are big fans of Asian culture, especially anything Chinese. Yesterday I found out about a Chinese performing arts group, called Divine Performing Arts, is having a show in Dallas at the beginning of February, so I bought tickets for us to go. I also made a reservation at the May Dragon Chinese restaurant so we can have dinner before we go to the show.

Since Aaron has to work on Valentine's Day, this will be our Valentine's together. Here is a link to a website that has a short video about the performance. I am pretty excited about it.

Caleb my stalker dog

Meet my stalker dog Caleb. Caleb loves his mommy and he shows that by following me everywhere! If I am on the computer he is on the floor behind me. If I go to the bathroom, he patiently waits outside the door until I am done. He sleeps on my feet. He is my "puppy puppy", that is what I call him.

And in his usual stalker fashion, he wouldn't quit following me around last night so I thought I would turn the tables on him and be the stalker.

Ahhh but I have a camera with an eerie green light that he did not care much for. Anyone who has had their picture taken by me knows about the green light. I have no idea why it's there or how to turn it off. But when I go to take a picture, this green alien beam of light shines on my photo victims, making sure I have their full attention. lol

I generally like to post picture in the order that they happen. But I skipped ahead for this pic because it is my fav. Caleb is so darn cute. I fell in love with border collie's because of him. He is also a total spaz. You cannot just pet him and walk away, he freaks out for more attention...pet me pet me pet me.

His eyes have an eerie green to them...he fell victim to the green beam!

He decided that if he quit trying to get away from me and just sat still that I would pet him in between pictures.

This is his, "please stop taking my picture now, I cannot see anything but stars" look

I said please mommy.

Okay, I stopped. Then I went to bed which was his signal to jump up on my bed and sleep on my feet.

My Silly Sara

Friday night my mom came and got Emma for the weekend and that left me with just Sara and Anthony, so my friend Ashley came over. Sara and Ashley's son Luke decided to watch a movie in the kid's room (the tv being in there is something new)...anyways, I went to check on them and this is what I found. (Notice the plate of ketchup in the background lol)

They are best friends. Isn't that sweet?

Then later on they moved to the couch. Sara is such a little mama!

Yesterday I went and bought the girls a set of bunk beds but I was really busy and didn't have time to put them together so the boxes are sitting in my living room. Sara got mad at me right before bedtime and laid down on one of the boxes and fell asleep! That totally cracked me up.

It helped that Sara went to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese and was completely exhausted when she got home. The last time she was at Chuck E Cheese she was only 2 so she doesn't have any memory of it, so going there was pretty exciting to her! She also got this cute shirt....now I just need to make a matching hair bow! lol

2nd day of school

Nothing too exciting here but I took pics of the girl's leaving. I was trying to capture Sara's new hair bows that I had made for her, but the pics didn't come out too well.

Emma's lunch. Carrots with light ranch, strawberries, cream cheese and ham sandwich, a cheese stick, grapes, applesauce and organic berry fruit snacks. I put too much stuff in this lunch, so she just had the rest as a snack when she got home.

Sara had 100 Calorie Cheetos, mustard sandwich, mini yogurt, grapes and a cheese stick.

All of the kid's take water and a Gatorade in their lunches.

First Day of Public School

Thursday was the kid's first day of public school. Anthony and Emma have actually been to ps before but they were still excited to go back. Not at first, I had to convince them that they would have a ton of fun at regular school.

But for Sara, Thursday really was her first day of public school. Anthony is in 6th grade (we wanted to give him time to get used to middle school), Emma is in 2nd grade and Sara is in Kindergarten.

She is very proud of her lunch box. The girl's take their lunch and Anthony buys his lunch. Except on the days he doesn't like what they are serving, like Friday, then he will bring his lunch.

I don't know what he is doing but he did it twice then I told him to knock it off and pose right.

Here is Emma's lunch. This is the top level with strawberries, grapes, a fruit cup and mini yogurt.

The bottom level has a cream cheese and ham sandwich, light Babybel cheese and a 100 Calerie Pack of chocolate animal cookies.

Sara had Reduced Fat Cheez-It's on top....

...and underneath, two mustard sandwiches (they are supposed to be double hearts), a little Clementine orange, light Babybel cheese and grapes.

They all had a good first day and they all made new friends so that is a huge relief to me!

food storage

At Target the other day I was looking for some food storage containers to put into the kid's lunch boxes and I came across this.

It is a Fit & Fresh Lunch on the Go container and I am absolutely in love with it. They only had one and I plan on going back to get at least two more, but I haven't had time. You can check out all of the other cool containers they have here at their website. I want all of them! lol

It has two small containers with lids that sit on top of an ice pack that is suspended by two little tabs on the side of the box to keep it from smushing anything underneath.

This is just an awesome little lunch box. All of the containers have measuring lines on the side too which is pretty handy.

I also found these for storing fruits and veggies. They are Rubbermaid Food Saver's. They have a little tray that sits at the bottom to keep the food from sitting in moisture and going bad faster.

Pretty cool. Pretty cool.

school supplies

The pics aren't in the best order, but I am trying to hurry so I can get started on the laundry. Here are some of the cute things we got the kids for school.

Here is Sara and her cupcake backpack.

Emma found a Bratz backpack she liked. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find cute backpacks halfway through the school year?!

Okay, this isn't for school, but isn't is adorable?! Both girls have one and I want one too. Okay, not really.

Emma's lunch box. I saw this and had to have it for her. It is so pretty and girly.

And now they have Hannah Montana gummy vitamins. There is also Hannah Montana macaroni and cheese. They have come up with just about anything you can think of to slap that girl's face on! lol

Sara picked out her lunch box. It has scenes on all 4 sides, but I will just show you too. She had to have this one because of the horse in the barn.

So that is the stuff they got for school. Next post will be the first two days of school and then I will be caught up on my blogging. And with them in school, I will either blog more or have nothing to blog about! lol
