Cabbage Patch Political Dolls

Anybody want a John McCain or Barack Obama Cabbage Patch doll? Well if you have $1,000 or so on hand, then you can get them here. They also have Sarah Palin and Joe Biden. I seriously love the Sarah Palin doll, she is adorable! I noticed that the McCain and Palin dolls are worth more than the Obama/Biden dolls. Hmmmmmm

Progressive Insurance

We use Progressive for our car insurance and today Aaron called them to make some changes to our policy. He agreed to switch over to paperless so we could have our stuff sent by e-mail instead of regular mail.

Then they told him that since he is going paperless that Progressive will plant a tree in the rain forest for him. I thought that was pretty cool so I wanted to share. I bet other insurance companies do something similar, so check it out!

Flashback Friday Five late again!

I was so busy Friday that I didn't have a chance to do the Flashback Friday Five, so here I am again, on a Sunday, doing it late.

Since I took the kid's to the pumpkin patch yesterday, I thought I would post last years pumpkin patch pictures for the FFF.

We always take the kid's to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch. It's totally free and I like to be able to take picture's of the kid's next to all of the character cut-outs.

This picture was taken 2 years ago at the pumpkin patch. I decided to post it because this year Anthony wore the exact same shirt and he is pretty much posing the same! lol

Samantha

We have a new addition to the Bagby family! Well kind of anyways. She is a little black kitten that I found on our doorstep. She is one of three wild cats that run around our neighborhood. We tried to catch a different cat a couple of weeks ago but we were unsuccessful. And that's too bad because the other cat was orange and I love orange cats.

Anyways, since she is all black and we found her right before Halloween we named her Samantha, like the witch on Bewitched. She is just a little sweetie. She likes to curl up against you, particularily your face, and go to sleep. The kid's are going crazy over her, they just love her. But she will get to stay an outdoor cat. Her and Caleb don't get along at all, so she can't stay inside.

National Cupcake Day

Today is National Cupcake Day. And since I love cupcake's I had to make something to celebrate it! You like my little Halloween display? The fabric and the cookie cutters were already on my kitchen table so I just arranged them to take the pic.
I made spice cake cupcakes with homemade cinnamon cream cheese frosting and of course Halloween sprinkles.

Flashback Friday Five

This week I didn't forget to do the Flashback Friday Five! As you can see I did not do pictures of my kid's like I said I would last week. I went a different route for this week since today is October 17 and tomorrow the 18th.

Tomorrow marks the 22nd year since my dad passed away in a car accident. I was 10 and I was also the last person to see him alive before he headed home and never made it. I don't have a lot of pictures of him. I'm sure my mom does, but I've posted what I've got.

You can click on any of the pictures to make them bigger.

Here we are at Christmas at my Aunt Ruth's house (my fav place in the world).

In this pic my dad is the one in the center holding the teddy bear. His brother Gary is to his right. My paternal great grandparents are sitting on the left and right. The man standing up on the right's name was Larry and I actually visited him and his family in N. Dakota for my 15th birthday.

That was when I learned there were no more male O'Brien's to carry on my family name. That is why my son Anthony's last name is O'Brien, not Bagby. The baby is my dad's little sister.

This picture was taken exactly 3 months before he died.

And I can't remember October 18th without remembering that it is my cousin Suzette's birthday. She is my favorite cousin, my 2nd favorite relative right behind her mom, my Aunt Ruth.

Here she is with her husband Henry (who I love and miss Happy late Birthday to you) and their son's Christopher and Conner.

I have veggies!

I planted these (already blooming) tomato and pepper plants int he spring and they have finally produced something!! I usually just kill my plants, they don't like me. But not this time!! Now if I can only get them to hold on long enough to finish growing!

Here is my one tomato.

And my jalapeno pepper.

And my husband's make shift support for the tomato plant. He took a stick and tied it to the plant with a straw that he found on the driveway. There are so many comments I could make on this. lol

Chowder puppets

I've had this video for a couple of weeks but keep forgetting to post it. One night the kid's decided to have a puppet show beside my bed. They are doing a scene from the cartoon Chowder. I love Emma's impression of Panini, she cracks me up!

I love my crazy kids!

My blog buddy Holly posted this on her blog. What I found amusing as I was copying and pasting it to add to my own blog is that she answered E with my name on it. Yep, for some reason she just knew I would respond. Of course I would!! lol

A) Four places that I go to over and over:
B) Four people who e-mail me (regularly):
C) My favorite places to eat:
D) Four places I'd like to be right now:
E) Four people I think will respond:
F) Four TV shows I watch all the time:

Okay, here are my answers!

A) Four places that I go to over and over: Walmart. Seriously that's it. I can't think of another place I go over and over. I am such a homebody, I like to stay at my house. Maybe the library but that's only every 3 weeks. I've been off and on sick for the last month so we haven't even been to church. I need to get out more.

B) Four people who email me (regularily): Hmmmm My mom and Shelly. That's it. And really I talk to Shelly more on IM than actual email. My blog is my outlet to the world.

C) My favorite places to eat: Olive Garden, Taco Casa, Maggiano's and TGI Friday's

D) Four places I'd like to be right now: Seattle, San Francisco, at my Aunt Ruth's house and North Dakota

E) Four people I think will respond: That is a hard one. I think Helen will...Holly guessed she would too. Probably Dawn....again guessed by Holly. And I'm gonna say Chel....because she should! And I'm one short...I say Holly!! I know it's cheating since I got this from her, but I don't know who else would! lol

Four tv shows I watch all of the time: Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Law & Order: SVU and CSI Las Vegas.

Okay, I did it, now you go to your blog and do it too!!!

Flasback Friday Five...late

This week's subject of the Flashback Friday Five is My Emma! I have so many good picture's of her it is so hard to choose. I may be biased since she is my child, but Emma is just beautiful.

She has the most perfect nose, I am so jealous! And the bluest eyes ever, pretty blonde hair with a hint of strawberry, perfect porcelain skin and her lips are such a shade of rose that she will never have to wear lipstick. Where did this child come from, I have none of those characteristic's!

Here is Emma dressed up as Cinderella when I took her to the ballet at Bass Hall to see Cinderella performed. She is 6 here.

Here she is all sassy striking a pose. She is 4 here.

Here she is right after she turned 4. So adorable!!

One of my favorite pics ever !! She is 3 here.

This is the Easter when she was 5. Look at that model of mine!! I am so jealous of that gorgeous hair she has!!

And that's it for this week. I will be doing older pics of Anthony and Sara over the next couple of weeks, and hopefully I will remember to actually do them on Friday!! lol

Texas/OU game

Right now the Texas/OU game is going on. I really hope the Longhorn's win. If they don't, I feel sorry for Aaron's employee's when he goes into work tonight because he will not be a happy camper!!

Hook Em Horns!!

Yay Texas won 45-35!! That is awesome, especially considering that Oklahoma was totally expected to win!! They were #1 and Texas was #5, and now Oklahoma is #6 and Texas is # 1!!!!!!!!!

sick again

Well, we are sick again. I have been lying around the last two days doing nothing. I attempted school today...will try again tomorrow. I am dying for a peppermint hot chocolate from Starbuck's. I'm not a big peppermint fan, but those are the greatest. If you want to bring me one, let me know and I will half-heartedly clean up my house. There are mini Post-It notes all over the place with little stick figures drawn on them. I don't know which of my children did it as I was napping at the time. I suspect it was Sara.

That's all...hope everyone else is having a good week!

King Tut @ the Dallas Museum of Art

The day I've waited 4 months for finally came!! We took the kid's to see the King Tut exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art. When we left our house it was pouring down rain and of course Aaron said "you picked a great day Cortni" and my response was "like I knew four months ago that it was going to rain today"! lol

The exhibit was pretty interesting. They had a huge picture on the wall showing Tutankhamun's family tree and Sara got excited whenever we came across a statue that was pictured on the family tree. I definitely learned some interesting things. Like Tut married his half sister whose mother was Nefertiti.

When the girl's and I did our Ancient Egypt unit, we did basic stuff, pyramids, canopic jars, mummies, pharoah's. We didn't go into detail about the people because they simply would not have remembered it. So it was neat to learn so much more. Oh....and boy was Tut skinny!! He was only 5'6" (an inch shorter than me) and they don't know exactly why he died but they think it's because he broke his leg right above his knee a few days earlier and it became infected.

Another interesting thing was that they found the mummies of two female babies, believed to be him and his wife's stillborn babies. They had the tiniest little coffin's. Some of the artifact's they found were believed to have been used by King Tut as they showed signs of wear. The jewelry was absolutely beautiful. But the ancient Egyptian's were some little people! Their were a couple of chair's on display and it's hard to picture anyone sitting in them they were so little.

This weekend the girl's made mummies of their own using Barbie dolls. This one is Emma's.

And Sara's.
I just love how Sara's mummy had flaming red hair!
These are the Egyptian puppets they made showing how the ancient Egyptian's dressed.

Here we are on our way!

Yeah, that is pretty much it. You couldn't take any picture's in the exhibit.

But we did get the kid's some cool souvenir's. It's their names in hieroglyphic's. Pretty cool huh? Here is Sara's name.
Emma
Anthony
Cortni
Aaron
Then we came home for a bit. I was reading my email and when I got up to go to the bathroom, this is what I found in my room. Aaron and the girl's totally crashed out.
Then I woke them up so we could go to the dollar movies to see Kung Fu Panda! Which we all loved! I will definitely buy it when it comes out.

Here is Sara pretending to be Tigress.

Now we are finally home!! We stopped off at Walmart and rented Iron Man so I am about to get off this thing and go watch it. We also picked up most of Anthony's Halloween costume. He is going as Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th. Sara is going as a bride and Emma is either going to be a vampire or a witch again. I wish it was all done and over with so we can get on with Thanksgiving!!

Flashback Friday Five

I've decided to start a new thing for Friday's called Flashback Friday Five. It makes sense. It's Friday, I'm flashing back and I'm posting five pictures! I encourage you to do the same! It's nice to drag out those old pics that no one ever gets to see anymore!

So from now on, every Friday I will do this. I already have like 5 pages of an album saved in photobucket so there is no shortage of photo's. And not all of them are really old, some are from last year. I just like to reminisce so I thought I'd share it with you too! And in case you didn't know, to see a picture bigger, just click on it.

Here is my grandma Ruth. She is my mother's mother. Isn't she beautiful?!?! She looks just the same but older....I wish I could age that well!
Here is me and my mom. I was 11. This was taken at my grandpa's wedding. I think Emma looks like me here. Her face is rounder and her skin is definitely fairer than mine, but we have the same eyes and cheeks!
This is me with my best friend Rachel. Short isn't she? hehehe This was taken back in Dec. 1999 and we were both 23. I am pregnant with Emma here, but you can't tell. Actually I didn't really show with her until I was in my last month!!
Awww here I am when I was 3. I was a HUGE Mickey Mouse fan. I remember that one year for my birthday my mom made me a Mickey Mouse cake. And if you ever see pictures of me before the age of 10, my hair will no doubt be in pigtails. Ugh
And last.....this is the day I got married. I don't have very many pictures of that day and most of them are messed up like this one. We got married at the JP's office and I wore all purple. Even my mails were purple (so gross). But I was in love with lavender. Aaron and I were both 25.

So there is my Flashback Friday Five. Now I hope you do the same, because I would love to see everyone else's pictures!!
