Our First Black President

I want to start off by saying that any negative comments will be deleted.

I did not want Obama to win, I voted for John McCain. But, regardless, I think that it's incredible that the first black president was elected in my lifetime. This is such a huge historical moment in American history and not only did I get to witness it, but my children did too.

It's amazing how far this country has come and I'm very proud to be an American. Today was momentous to me because it was the first time I have ever voted. It really felt like I was a part of something. I've always been very patriotic. I grew up with grandparents extremely involved with the VFW and the Auxillary. I marched in parades and handed out poppy's. I love my country.

American history is one of my favorite subjects and it is forever changed today. It's almost too much to grasp. I hope that Obama will do good things with his time in office. Like I said, I wanted McCain to win, but he didn't, so it's time to move forward.

I'm kind of on the edge of my seat now waiting for the change that was promised. I'm not too sure I'll be happy with it, but I'll be waiting for it nonetheless.

I agree, it is a neat time in history to see how far we've come in that respect. I'm just not so sure that that should have been the primary reason for electing him, as I believe it was. We shall see...
