another day at VBS

Here is Sara making improvements on my birthday card. Or as she says it, "Burpday card"....what's funny is that she is making me a birthday card and she doesn't even know that my birthday is in 2 weeks. Yep, I'm gonna be 32. Oh joy.

I totally stalked her this morning and followed her around. She looks so cute in her piggy tail bows, how could I resist?

On the way out the door. All of the kid's took one stuffed animal to VBS. Kyle ditched his as soon as we got there, so it came back home with me.
I really like the church the kid's have been going to this week. When I went to pick the kid's up yesterday I asked the elderly man holding the door some questions about what kind of church it was. It's a bible church (Bear Creek Bible Church), Baptist based. That's cool with me, we are Baptist.

He was a really nice man, 76 years old and volunteering to help with VBS. And he remembered my name this morning. He gave me a visitor packet yesterday and even introduced me to the pastor's wife who was super nice and fun to talk to.

It's a smaller church too, so the kid's feel more at home. The church we had been going to was a nice church, but really large and the kid's felt a little lost there. I don't think they will have that problem here....this church reminds me of our first church in East Texas....which I greatly miss. I knew everybody there and I miss hanging out with all of the ladies.

Anyways, just thought I would share that I think we found a church home. I will have a better feel for it after we attend services on Sunday....I'll let ya know.

movie and popcorn

I rented the kid's the movie The Spiderwick Chronicles. I even made them cute little popcorn bags with stickers and their names written on them. Anthony made a pallet on the floor and they all layed together in a row eating their popcorn ready to watch the movie. I took some really cute pics of them all together.

Then after the movie I sat down to load the pics up to the computer. My memory card wasn't in the camera. Nice. All of the pictures are saved to the internal memory of my camera and I have no way to get them out. Smooth.

VBS Boot Camp

This is actually the 2nd VBS I put the kid's in for the summer. It's boot camp themed and it stands for Biblical Outlook and Outreach Training. The kid's tried to cooperate and take a picture but it was really bright outside, so this is the best I've got for now. Maybe I can get a better pic tomorrow.

When I go to pick them up I have a surprise for them. I rented The Spiderwick Chronicles! So that should keep them busy for a couple of hours. I really need to get the pool cleaned out so they can go swimming tomorrow.

Last night I decided that it would be cute to put Sara's hair back in lots of ponytail holders like I used to do Emma's. That way it wouldn't get tangled in her sleep and it would look cute. Once I was done she decided that it hurt her hair and she started crying and I had to take it all out. Errr

After I dropped the kid's off at VBS this morning I stopped off at Wal-Mart and picked me up some Easy Cheese and Chicken in a Biskit crackers. These are a splurge item for me...incredibly healthy too ;)

I don't know what it is about plastic-y processed cheese being aerosoled out of a can onto a chicken flavored cracker, but it's yummy. Who the heck came up with the idea of putting the flavor of chicken into a cracker? Well, that person is a genius...I bet he lived next door to Mr. Easy Cheese...that is why they are so good together. yep

Jason

Yesterday made it 12 years since my brother Jason died. And no, I didn't forget yesterday, I just choose to make it through the day not thinking about it. So that is why I decided to make this post today. For some reason it's easier...because it always seems like tension looming ahead leading up to June 21st. It also doesn't help that June 21st is the summer solstice, making it the longest day of the year.

So, here is the post....gotta run, don't want to stay here too long.

King Tut

I got my King Tut tickets!!! I am beyond excited about going to the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharoah's exhibit that is coming to the Dallas Museum of Art in October.

It will be here just a few weeks after the kid's are done studying Ancient Egypt in history. It hasn't been to the United States in 30 years and it's awesome that we get to share in the experience together.

I pre-registered to buy tickets so I could get them before they went on sale to the general public and they sent me the e-mail just a bit ago saying that I could buy them now. But they aren't cheap!! For the five of us to go it set us back $126! And we had to pick our day and time in advance...Monday, October 6 at 11 am.

But it will be worth it and I think it's so cool that the kid's will get to see up close the things we will learn about right before we go. This is definitely at the top of my list for field trips this year. I can't wait!!

So me and Sara went to Wal-Mart today and I tried to find her a bathing suit. There were only 3 one piece suits and none of them were in her size. But there are plenty of girl's binkini's everywhere! That drives me crazy.

I think that bikini's are so inappropriate for little girl's. I have yet to see a girl wearing a bikini that I thought was cute. I actually think it's gross and my daughter's will never be allowed to wear them. It's sad that the population buys them enough for stores to almost exclusively stock them.

So frustrating!!

rainy day fun

When Sara and I went to the store today to get the new pool, you could tell that it was going to rain. I didn't know at the time that it was only going to rain for about 20 minutes and then stop, so I picked up an activity for the girl's to do. I love love love foam stickers!

I got Emma Tinkerbell stickers and got Sara Ariel stickers (both come with glitter) and they decorated their visors. Then the rain stopped and we set up the new pool. I expect to see them again around dark. lol

The pool we got the kid's on Sunday was horrible! It was supposed to be 12 ft x 3 ft but we couldn't get the sides to stay up and tons of water would go pouring out. After 2 days I decided it was enough and we are taking that pool back. So today I went and bought a little $30 pool for them to splash around in. It's acutally a pretty good sized pool and it should be plenty of room for all of the kid's.

Happy Father's Day

So today is Father's Day and Aaron did a reverse, he got the kid's a pool! It's not a big pool, it's only 12 ft. x 3 ft. but it's perfect for the kid's. (and me too)

I'm not done putting it together yet, it isn't filled all of the way and the pump isn't hooked up but the girl's have been in it since it had about a inch of water! They wanted me to bring them dinner poolside and I told them to get their butts out to eat. lol They are sooooo going to live in there this summer!

But don't think that Aaron didn't get anything for Father's Day! He actually got a membership to 24 Hour Fitness...so now he can go work out to his heart's content!

off to VBS

Here are Sara and Ashley this morning on the way out of the door to go to VBS. Sara is swallowed up by her shirt. Ashley didn't get her VBS shirt until we got there this morning but I put a lime green hair bow in for her so she could match.

Not quite sure why Ashley's standing this way. lol Check out Sara's new flip flops....I made them for her last night. They match her hair bow.

This one is cute. Sara is almost as tall as Ashley!

Apparently we forgot to lock our front door last night. And I didn't hear my phone ring when Shelly called to wake me up before she got here this morning. So I was awakened by her touching my foot and saying my name! Man that scared the crap out of me!!! I'm awake now. lol

Vacation Bible School

Tomorrow the girl's start vacation bible school at a church up the street. The theme is Outrigger's Island and they will go all week from 9am-noon. It actually started this evening but Aaron took the car to work with him so I had no way of taking them.

Tomorrow is also the first day that I will be watching my friend Shelly's kid's. I signed her kid's up too, so it will just be me and Anthony until lunchtime.

I have to say that the kid's are excited that Ashley and Kyle will be here all summer. What they don't realize is how early they have to get up and how exhausted they are going to be. This is gonna be a fun week with all of that crankiness!! I mean me too.

I already told Shelly to warn her kid's that I will be cranky. I'm used to staying up until at least 2 am and sleeping as late as I want (usually 9 or 10). Lazy I know...but I get my crap done so who cares. I also told her that my kid's had to get up when her kid's got here because I wasn't going to entertain her kids, my kid's are going to entertain her kid's. Ahh how well the system works.

NEW Layout!!!

As you can see, I have a new layout for my blog. As much as I loved my old one (it matches my MySpace page), it was dark and it's summer and I wanted something lighter. And funky. I think I accomplished my goal. The colors are so beautiful together!

I have been dying to find a template that had three columns. I love blogs that have three columns!! I will definitely be adding more stuff to the sides as time goes on.

For some reason, I really want my blog to be something that people enjoy reading. Something that they look forward to coming to every day.

And I want more people to visit (than just the 4). If you are new to my blog, or old and haven't introduced yourself...please do, it's lonely out here in blog world and I need some dang friends!

I guess I should start having more interesting topics to blog about...hmmmmm. I will try, but I want this to be fun and natural, so no promises.

Basketball & pics

Today was Anthony's first basketball game for the summer. They lost 14-7. They played a good game though. His team is the Piston's but their jersey's haven't come in yet...hopefully they will by picture day on the 21st.
My mom wanted some pictures of the kid's so I got to argue with them to sit still and get the shot's she wanted. I'm not so sure it's what she wants, but this is what she got!
