Wednesday was Science Night at the girls school. The had some cool experiments for everyone to do....

They showed us how to poke a wooden skewer all the way through a balloon without popping it. (coat the tip of the skewer in a lot of vaseline)

Then they made paper rockets and put them on the end of a pvc pipe connected to a 2 liter, then stomped on the 2 liter, sending their plane flying.

Waiting patiently for the next experiment.

We made marshmallow trebuchet's out of mouse traps, tape and spoons.

The last experiment involved a film canister, water and Alka-Seltzer.
The film canister already had the water in it, then the kids dropped the Alka-Seltzer in and quickly put the lid on. They stood back and the pressure built up inside and finally it popped the lid off of the film canister.

The girls had a lot of fun and the school sent home instructions for each of the experiments in case we wanted to try them at home!
