exhausting day

I've had such an exhausting day today! I've been on the go, go, go.

About three weeks ago I managed to lose my drivers license after a night out with our friends. I have not been able to find it so I finally went down to the DPS today and got a new license. When they print the temporary paper license, it includes a picture of you. I thought that was pretty cool.

After getting my license I came home and ordered a copy of my birth certificate from California and they only offer one shipping option and that is to pay $19 for UPS to deliver me my birth certificate. That charge is on top of the $20 I had to pay for the certificate itself. So there went $39!

The county I'm from requires you to have a verification letter printed, notarized and faxed to them before they will mail your birth certificate out to you. For whatever reason, my brand new computer would not pull up the document. So off to the library I went to have it printed off. Then off to the bank to have it notarized.

From there I had to grab some groceries, hoping that the store would offer fax services. They didn't. Off to Target to buy new sheets that are on sale. Completely forget to check if they offer fax service. Someone told me the post office could fax stuff. Nope. Finally got to a mail box place that does offer fax service. But the fax wouldn't go through. Errrr

So I called information to get the number for the county recorder, then patiently waited for their automated service to finally send my call to a live person. I had the right fax number, the problem must me on my end. The lady tried again, this time with success!!

Now I have to wait a week to get my birth certificate and then I can start the process of getting my passport. yay

When I sent Aaron a text complaining about all of the running around I had to do, he texted back with this....

"u r doing it for Paris"

He's right. I am. I love him. And we are one step closer to going to Paris.

PBR Iron Cowboy Invitational

Sometimes I really love that my husband works for Papa Johns. And that Jerry Jones owns a part of Papa Johns. And that we live 20 minutes away from the new Cowboys Stadium!

Aaron was able to get us tickets to the 2010 PBR Iron Cowboy Invitational this past Saturday at Cowboys Stadium. It was so much fun! The kids all enjoyed it, even though it lasted pretty late (almost midnight).

This isn't the huge 72 feet (or something like that) screen you hear about at the stadium. This is the huge screen on the side of it. lol

We got there early but by the time the event started, most of the seats at the stadium were full. That is a LOT of people!

Gary Allan sang for over an hour. I have to say that I did not enjoy that part. I wanted it to end but it just dragged on. It would have been fine and enjoyable if they didn't have the sound up so loud. Seriously, it was hurting my ears and it made me all cranky.

Me and my baby Emma.

Sara Bear.

They wanted you to know it was NOT a rodeo! It was just pure bull riding!!

They poured gasoline on the dirt and set off some pyrotechnics.

It was pretty darn cool.

Jerry Jones came out and greeted each bull rider as they announced them.

The "let's get ready to rumble" guy!! I was most excited to see him. Seriously, it made my day! lol

The video of him saying his signature line is at the bottom of this post.

A couple of the bull riders came out on motorcycles and jumped a ramp.

Joe Nichols sang the National Anthem. He was so good, I loved his voice. (I wish he could have opened)

The clown was hilarious. He came out and entertained us while they had commercial breaks.

This is how close we were to the chutes where the bull riders came out. Only 4 rows up!

Justin McBride came out and sang a few songs. I really liked him too. Plus he is pretty easy on the eyes. wink wink

Code Blue. The final bull.

Here is Valdiron de Oliveira taking the final ride that won him the title 2010 Iron Cowboy.

You see that guy in the left corner with the black hat and red shirt on? Oh my, he was my favorite. Look at that smile. That is Guilherme Marchi and he is the 2008 PBR World Champion. And he is H-O-T. Don't worry, I let Aaron know this as well. He just rolled his eyes at me. lol

There he is, my handsome hubby!

Nice little check there, don't ya think?

Random February Things

Sometimes pictures on my camera slip by me and I don't get them posted....so here they are!

We made some cute treats for Valentine's Day. They are chocolate covered marshmallows with cute valentine sprinkles. I got the idea from Dawn's blog. Thanks for sharing these Dawn!

I made Anthony some s'mores treats. I just covered them in crushed graham crackers...voila! Instant s'mores!

Okay...onto other things. I went to Walmart a couple of days ago and bought the kids all of their Easter treats. They are safely hidden until it's Easter (over a month away)! But I did give them their mini gumball machines I bought. They are so adorable!!

My tussie mussies. Nope, I'm not getting married again...at least not until September 2011 when Aaron and I celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary and renew our vows.

When we move this summer I plan on redecorating our room in a french shabby chic look. The colors I'm using are white, cream, black and a light turquoise blue. Well, I thought that these would fit in perfectly.

There is an antique shop near my house that I absolutely love. It's called Golightly's and it's just a beautifully put together store. There is always lots of inspiration there. I did not buy this calender the other day but I think I might go back for it. I love the bird!

I did buy these however. They were on sale and although I have no idea what I will use them for other than just decorations, I'm okay with that.

I also picked up this iron cross for only $7!!

After Golightly's I went over to a candle shop and bought some wax tarts for my burners. And then I decided that it was too expensive to keep buying wax tarts from someone else and I went online and ordered my own wax.

I chose high cotton, lavender vanilla and angel wings scented oils to scent my soy wax. I should have them in a few days...and I will begin my candle crafting hobby!

I was browsing around etsy and came across a shop selling these cute Toy Story alien earrings! Anthony told me I should buy them and the matching necklace to wear when we go see the new Toy Story movie coming out in June. I can't wait!

The shop also had this....Little Twin Stars. When I was a little girl I had a ton of Little Twin Stars stuff. Everyone else had Hello Kitty but I loved LTS!

Found these in another shop. In case y'all didn't know it, my maiden name is O'Brien so St. Patrick's Day is kinda my thing. I love being Irish!

So that is it for now...today is a cleaning day for me, tomorrow night I am taking the kids out to celebrate Chinese New Year and Saturday we are going to the rodeo, so I will have lots to blog then!!

Mardi Gras 2010

Laissez les bons temps rouler!!
(Let the good times roll)

Yesterday was Fat Tuesday and Aaron took me out to Duke's to celebrate Mardi Gras. Here we are just before we headed out.

They had a tent set up in the parking lot with a live band playing. They were dressed from the 70's, complete with cheesy wigs. They were actually pretty good. Plus they played a Journey song and that made me incredibly happy. Especially since I was on my 3rd cocktail by then! lol

We weren't out for long, only about two hours, but we had a lot of fun.

They had a parade float with people throwing beads. I'm really glad I have a tall husband because he snagged a ton of beads for me!

I love how I'm blurry in the picture but the girl behind me drinking her beer is in perfect focus. hehe

Ahhhh my love.

This year was the first time we bought a king cake for Mardi Gras. It was delicious!! The kids loved it too...even though there was no token in it. At least we haven't found one yet, there is still a lot left!

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Fat Tuesday!!

Snowman!

Well the snow is quickly melting away just leaving slush behind. I'm so over it now though...24 hours is enough!!

The girls went out and did a little bit of snow painting this afternoon.

Followed by throwing themselves into the snow.

Then on to building a snowman.

I don't know why Sara chose to use a pencil cup (recycled baby formula container I covered in fabric) but that is what she wanted on his head. Emma used frozen pineapple chunks for the eyes. Hey, at least they are creative! lol

He even has a bubble pipe and leaf hair.

After the got tired they came in for some snow ice cream. Yummy!! It was so good! I had never heard of such a thing but I got the recipe here. You gotta try it if you can. I served it with hot brownies, just like Kelly!

So many things this weekend fell through! The kids didn't have school today, the dance at the girls school was canceled, no Valentine's party because of no school and we decided to postpone the girls slumber party...partly due to the weather, partly due to me starting to get sick. yay

Aaron and I do have plans to take Anthony to see Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief tonight after the girls have gone to bed. I can't wait to see it, it looks so good. Anthony has read all of the books and loved them so he is looking forward to it too.

Tomorrow we are making some fun treats for Valentine's Day so be sure to check back!
